1. How does the CarboxyFacial work?
Your face, neck, decolletage and/or hands are injected with tiny amounts of medical grade Carbon Dioxide gas (after application of an effective numbing cream, so it’s all completely painless). The body then increases the delivery of Oxygen and nutrients to that area (by re-opening dormant blood vessels that went into an age-related ‘hibernation’), stimulating collagen production and improving the appearance of the skin. Over time, this improves skin elasticity and radiance.
2. What age should you start having CarboxyFacials?
Here at Eudelo, we always believe that prevention is better than a cure. That’s why we encourage women over the age of 25 years to make the CarboxyFacial part of their regular routine. By 30 years, the oxygen supply to your skin decreases by 25%, and by age 40, that goes down to 50%, so taking action now helps keep your skin at its best.
3. How often do you recommend the treatment?
Like physical fitness, skin ‘fitness’ needs an on-going effort. You will see best results over time. That’s why our team of experts recommends that you keep the treatment up regularly. Usually our patients have one treatment every 4-8 weeks.
4. Are there any side effects and will it hurt?
You will have some redness that should last for a couple of hours maximum (this is actually a desired effect, as it shows us that the treatment has started working!). As we are using needles (albeit very small ones), there is a possibility of getting tiny little dots of bruising at the entry sites. These can be covered with makeup and tends to go after a couple of days. Sometimes you may experience a slight puffiness after the treatment, but this usually subsides very quickly. Very few people develop tiny wheels at the injection sides, which can be treated with antihistamines (‘hayfever tablets’) and resolves within less than an hour.
We always offer a numbing cream, to optimise discomfort. With this, most people report that the treatment is painless.
5. Is Carbon Dioxide safe?
The CarboxyFacial is non-surgical, so it’s a very low-risk treatment. Carbon Dioxide occurs naturally in the body, it is non-toxic and constantly metabolised in our body.
