As a general rule you should perform a mole check on a yearly basis, but if you have fair skin and are exposing it to the sun, you may need to have your moles checked more regularly.

The risk with a mole is that if you do not check them periodically, and it decides to change in form – as they can do unexpectedly – there is the potential for it to be a melanoma – the deadliest form of skin cancer. Another sign they will look for is change in colour or changes to the diameter of the mole and whether it has become raised.
